1. What is the purpose of a Citizen's Police Academy?

To give the public information on how the Azle Police Department operates, through a series of classes instructed by several police officers.

2. When are classes held, and how long to complete the course?

Two Academies are held per year. Classes are held one day a week for three hours for 13 weeks.

3. Why does the Azle Police Department host Citizen Police Academies?

We feel the more information that the public has about our department, less fears and misconceptions will exist. Many conflicts are caused by a simple lack of understanding.

4. How much does it cost me to attend the CPA?

There is no cost to you to attend the CPA. However, there are certain qualifications you must meet in order to be able to attend. (see qualifications)

5. Where did the concept originate?

Orlando, Florida taught the first Citizen's Police Academy in 1984.
