Water meter transmitters to be upgraded

Beginning September 12, the City of Azle will begin the process of upgrading transmitters on existing water meters from 3G to 5G technology. The technology industry will be terminating 3G technology by year's end. Ratliff Utilities will be installing the new equipment.

The transmitter, or endpoint, on each meter sends the meter reading to Azle Utility Billing Dept for billing purposes, and also allows customers to monitor their water usage through EyeOnWater. EyeOnWater provides a secure on-line website (and smartphone app) where City of Azle water customers can view their usage activity to gain a better understanding of the amount of water they use. It can also be used to identify potential leaks.

What can water customers expect at their meter:

  • The equipment replacement should take between 5 to 10 minutes.
  • Should be no interruption in water service to your home or business.
  • Not expected to affect water bills.

The project is estimated to take three (3) months to complete, weather permitting.
