Azle General Election Cancelled

Due to Public Health and Safety Concerns Related to COVID-19, on March 18, Governor Greg Abbot issued a proclamation authorizing political subdivision to postpone their May 2, 2020 General Election to the Next Scheduled Election date - November 3, 2020. Since then one candidate passed away and one chose to withdraw. At this time all candidates remain unopposed. 

The Texas Election Code Authorizes a governing body to declare each unopposed candidate " elected to office" and may cancel the election. Therefore, at the July 7, 2020 Azle City Council Meeting, Council approved Ordinance 2020-08 and ordinance canceling the General Election. the following unopposed candidates were declared "elected to office" and will take their oath of office in November;

Council member Place 2 - David McClure
Council member Place 5 - Rouel Rothernberger

    The City of Azle will hold a General Election on May 2, 2020 for the purpose of electing three Council Members to Places 1, 2 and 5 for a two-year term expiring in May 2022;  Filing dates 01-15-2020 thru 02-14-2020 5:00 pm.
