Overview & Responsibilities

The Street Department is responsible for the construction, repair, and maintenance of the city’s streets.

Responsibilities include:

  • Street failures
  • Potholes
  • Installation and repair of streets
  • Control signs
  • Utility cuts
  • Maintaining right-of-ways

In Tarrant County, the Department maintains 46 miles of asphalt streets and 6.5 miles of concrete streets. Parker County streets consist of ten miles of asphalt and 1.4 miles of concrete. Of the total 64 miles of streets:

  • 32 miles are in above average condition
  • 20 miles are in average condition
  • 12 miles are in poor condition
  • 24 miles consist of curb and gutter
  • 40 miles consist of open ditch drainage
