If you wish to appear in court before the municipal court judge, you must appear in person or mail a request for an appearance date on or before the 20th day following your citation date. If you have been released on bond, you must contact the court for your appearance date.
Your first appearance is to determine your plea. You will need to decide if you want to plead guilty, no contest, or not guilty. The judge will not be able to discuss any circumstances regarding your citation unless you enter a plea of guilty or no contest. If you plead not guilty, you must decide if you wish to have a trial before the Judge or a jury panel. If you choose to have your case heard by the judge, you will be rescheduled to a trial setting. If you choose to have your case heard by a jury, you will be notified at a later date of your appearance date.
